If you live near Effingham County and you're planning to watch the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in August, you'll have a local reason for keeping your eye on the skyline.

Temcor, a company that designs, manufactures and erects architectural enclosures, is working on a structure that will house an Olympic swimming complex in Yiwu, China.

It's one of nearly half a dozen domed Temcor structures that will be used for Olympic events and it is being produced at Temcor's plant at 208 Industrial Boulevard in Rincon.

Temcor has established a partnership with Chatham Industries and Coastal Center for Developmental Services to provide opportunities for men and women with a variety of developmental challenges to work at the facility.

Twelve people from the Coastal Center started work last week performing assembly work and part cleaning.

The Rincon facility has about 50 additional full-time employees and does about 200 jobs a year, said Leland Sanders, the company's vice president of manufacturing.
